- Stay attuned to the Agenda for Education in a Democracy, engage in discourse, and bring new members into the conversation;
- Determine initiatives that grow out of common problems in light of current circumstances and the Agenda;
- Honestly reflect the tripartite nature of the work and what we stand for, including diversity and democracy;
- Have an international presence;
- Help inform policy through responding to political issues that relate to our mission;
- Provide leadership for settings’ renewal, i.e., review structure(s), help us self assess our work and progress to advance our mission.
NNER is guided by the leadership of an Executive Director, the Executive Board, and the Governing Council.
NNER Executive Board
The authority of the NNER and the government of the affairs of the NNER are vested in the Executive Board. All the powers, duties, and functions of the corporation conferred by the articles of incorporation, bylaws, state statutes, common law, court decisions, or otherwise, are exercised, performed, or controlled by or under the authority of the Executive Board. Executive Director
The NNER Governing Council
The Governing Council makes recommendations to and provides direction for the Executive Board on financial and policy matters that affect the NNER and provide input to the Executive Board for recruiting, hiring and goalsetting for the Executive Director. Additionally, the Governing Council assists in the recruitment and selection of new settings for membership.
NNER Executive Director
The Executive Director holds general and active control of the NNER’s affairs and business, promotes the purposes of the NNER, and serves as chief financial officer. The Executive Director is responsible for seeing that all orders, policies and resolutions of the Executive Board are carried into effect as well as all goals of the Governing Council are met.
